The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) is in charge of regulating the educational system, guaranteeing the right of all Dominicans to a quality education.

Ordinance 4'2000 (Regulation of Private Educational Institutions) regulates the exercise of privately managed educational centers; to this end, they are classified as "recognized" or "accredited", if they show compliance to the regulations.
